On 22 October 2025, the SENTINEL-EMP project officially launched in Nicosia, Cyprus, marking a strong start to an ambitious European defence initiative. The kick-off meeting, hosted and chaired by eBOS Technologies Ltd as project coordinator, brought together representatives from all consortium partners: eBOS (Cyprus), SignalGeneriX (Cyprus), ASH SYSTEMS (Slovenia), University of West Attica (UNIWA, Greece), and National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA, Greece).
Together, we will work on developing a disruptive, cost-effective Very Short-Range Air Defence (VSHORAD) system capable of detecting, tracking, and neutralising hostile drone swarms using programmable, EMP-capable air-bursting projectiles.
At ASH, we are proud to contribute by developing a machine-learning-based data-fusion algorithm that will combine and analyse sensor data in real time, enabling precise tracking and timely responses to multiple threats simultaneously.
It’s a big challenge, but also a meaningful one. Drone swarms are becoming increasingly accessible, and Europe’s need for reliable, autonomous defences has never been clearer.
Beyond technology, SENTINEL-EMP is about collaboration. The project brings together partners with complementary expertise in areas such as sensor technologies, AI, and electromagnetic defence. Meeting our partners face-to-face and spending time together reminded us that this project is powered by people as much as by innovation.
As the partnership moves forward, we look ahead to the next 36 months of working side-by-side across borders, combining expertise, and building towards a capability that strengthens Europe’s defence resilience and technological sovereignty. This was a truly positive and promising start.
Over the coming years, the SENTINEL-EMP consortium will continue working together across Europe to deliver a new generation of portable anti-drone systems that combine precision, scalability, and reliability.
